There is a quote in this book on joy that I'm reading : "To embrace God's point of view, however briefly, is to be joyful." (Mike Mason) I am not familiar with the person behind this quote, but I wholeheartedly agree with this. God is joy, and if we're doing His will, we will eventually see and experience the joy that God has in mind for us. We just need to remember that He knows so much more than we do, and if we act on what He tells us, we are acting for our own good. If, however, we base our joy based on emotion, we will forget how powerful God is and what He has done for us. We shouldn't base our actions on our feelings. I know I've written this several times and maybe it's not interesting reading, but I'm trying to get this through my own head.
My joy for the day is the end of a long workweek. I had two long days at work taking inventory, and then this morning I had to get up at 3 am to open. The good thing is that when I get out of work the sun is still up, which it usually isn't on the nights I close. I love the feeling of relief, of not having to do anything. It's nice just to have time to oneself once in a while.
