By His Wisdom

He made the earth by His power, and he preserves it by His wisdom. He has stretched out the heavens by His understanding.....Compared to Him, all people are foolish and have no knowledge at all! They make idols but the idols will disgrace their makers, for they are frauds. They have no life or power in them. Idols are worthless; they are lies! The time is coming when they will be destroyed. But the God of Israel is no idol! He is the Creator of everything that exists, including His people, His own special possession. The Lord Almighty is His name! (Jeremiah 51: 15, 17-19)

I wonder, if we had even a tenth of the wisdom of God, how much more joy we would have. The way to have joy is to make sure that God is our only God, and not one among many. We don't make wooden or metal idols today, but we still have them. We worship money (or the things that money can buy), status, people, etc, and ignore the God who gave us all these things, and this worship steals our joy from us when the things of this world inevitably let us down. I'm still trying to make sure that God comes first, but it sure isn't easy. When you're still in the world, there are a lot of things that tempt us and it is easy to forget God. If we ask God for wisdom, He will certainly give it to us, and His wisdom will help us to put Him first. Thank God! He is the only way to have joy.
