Pretty darned hot today. I hate when I leave work after working the opening shift and immediately feel like I can't breathe. Oh well. Enjoy it while it lasts.
This is kind of a random blog today, and I apologize. I'm just gonna write some meandering thoughts today.
Last night, while going through the usual alarm-clock-paranoia that I go through the night before an opening shift, I checked to see if the radio station my alarm was set to was coming in clearly. If it's just static then I'm afraid I won't hear it, and when you have to work at 4:15 am there's not much room for oversleeping. Anyway, I turned the radio on and heard a distinct cacophony of sound. I thought that it had to be the Beatles' "A Day in the Life" from Sgt. Pepper's. There is no mistaking that noise. I turned it off then said I won't turn it on to find out. Couldn't stand it though, so of course I turned it back on, and I was correct---it was that song. So I had to listen to that, especially as it came to Paul's part in the song ("Woke up, fell out of bed, dragged a comb across my head...."). Lennon and McCartney's most collaborative, and most creative effort, I have to say. Then I got mad at the radio station because they didn't let the chord at the end ring out for as long as it's supposed---they only played like two seconds of that chord before switching to something else. It's like not playing the entire song...come on guys!!! So I went to bed ticked off and then couldn't sleep for a bit. But I did get up on time, I'm happy to report. And I thought this would make a good subject for this blog today, the joy of listening to a song you really like before bed.....
