Today was kind of a paper bag over the head day. It's not every day that a coworker threatens to beat you up, but apparently that's what happened. I think the only thing that I did to her was tell her not to put things back that a customer was going to come back and pay for, and she ignored me and kept putting them back, and the customer did come back. Fortunately the customer was not upset, but I was a bit upset because as a team leader, if I ask somebody to do or not do something, I kind of expect them to follow through. When she went to take her break, she vented to another coworker that she was either going to walk out or kick my butt. The other two coworkers called my boss and he came in and talked to everybody to try to calm things down. We'll see what happens.
Continuing on the study of music, I come across a list of musical instruments in the Bible. I find it kind of humorous that the first one listed is the castanets. "David and all the people of Israel were celebrating before the Lord with all their might, singing songs and playing all kinds of musical instruments--lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets, and cymbals". (2 Samuel 6:5) I don't know why, but for some reason castanets are kind of funny. The afore mentioned instruments apparently made up a complete orchestra in those days, but I wonder about the Biblical harp. It couldn't possibly have been the same harp that we see in orchestras today--it would not have been portable enough for David to play for Saul, and then escape from him. There aren't too many marching bands with harps in them. I am going to have to look that up.
The cymbal is mentioned also in 1 Corinthians 13:1 where Paul writes: "If I could speak in any language in heaven or on earth, but didn't love others, I would only be making a meaningless noise like a loud gong or a clanging cymbal." Hmmm. Not very flattering to the cymbal, having its sound referred to as meaningless. It is also mentioned in Psalms 150:5: "Praise Him with a clash of cymbals; praise Him with loud clanging cymbals." Not so meaningless now! Praising God is never meaningless. We're giving Him the honor He deserves; plus engaging in praise usually helps us mood-wise. Tomorrow I will discuss some more instruments mentioned in the  Bible.
