Blowin' in the Wind...

Thought I'd try to write this before we lose power. Dad got home safely for which I am thankful. I didn't have to work today, due to all the flights this afternoon being cancelled. I have a bunny who just begged for a second treat right after having one. She did that because she saw Andy giving Tia a treat and Harvey a treat.

Today I am reading Psalm 119. May this be true of me:

I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Blessed are you, O Lord; teach me your principles. (v.11-12)
How does one go about hiding His word in our hearts?
First, the obvious thing is to be reading it. And by reading it, not just once in a while, or infrequently. I need to read it every day.
Second, while reading it, to meditate on it and think about the Lord and what He wants. Which also means praying that He would open our eyes. Lately, I've found the more I read His word, the more I find things that I never noticed before. I've also found that writing this blog is good for me because it forces me to clarify what I am thinking. It helps me to figure out what I am learning and to express it in words.  So while I certainly hope this blog is helpful to those who are reading it, I find that it may be more helpful to me!
Third, to discuss what we are learning with loved ones and other Christians, both new Christians and those who have been in the faith a long time. New Christians bring a freshness to the Gospel and will have a different perspective, and older Christians will have experience and maturity in matters of faith. They can share what they've learned in their own walk with us.

I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways. I will delight in your principles and not forget your word. (119:15-16)
So there! The psalm goes on to state what I just listed, and in fewer words too! May we follow the words that God gives us.
