Today I was the proverbial bug on the windshield. Not a good day at all. Of course, some of it was my own doing. I went to mail a package off and got to the post office and realized that I didn't have any of my credit or debit cards on me, and also that I had been driving without a license on me. I also realized that I didn't have time to go home and retrieve my wallet with said cards in it. Splat!!
I got to work, and my supervisor pulled me aside and told me that a coworker had told her that I had refused to go get a needed item from storage and that I had refused to give her my key so she could go do it. My first reactions was WHAT???!!!! I never had this conversation with her on Saturday, so I don't know why she said this, or, and this is important, what exactly she said. I believe the wise thing to do here is to ask her exactly what she said to the supervisor so that I don't go around slinging accusations. It's probably a good thing this coworker wasn't there today when I first heard this, because I was fit to be tied. Proverbs 19:11 says, "People with good sense restrain their anger; they earn esteem by overlooking wrongs." I don't want to do anything rash here. I think the principle of shoot first, ask questions later has caused more problems in the world than almost anything else. (After sin, I mean.) This coworker also told the supervisor that I had said that she had left all the receiving for me to do when I got back from vacation. The supervisor proceeded to lecture me on everything she had done while I was away. I told her that I didn't remember saying it. I'm still not sure if I said it. Splat!!!! Hope tomorrow is a better day.
