Beware of darkness...

In my Bible reading today, I noticed the same message cropping up over and over:
Many deceivers have gone out into the world. They do not believe that Jesus Christ came to earth in a real body. Such a person is a deceiver and an antichrist. Watch out, so that you do not lose the prize for which we have been working so hard. Be diligent so that you will receive your full reward. For  if you wander beyond the teaching of Christ, you will not have fellowship with God. But if you continue in the teaching of Christ, you will have fellowship with both the Father and Son. (2 John 1:7-9)
This warning crops up again and again throughout the New Testament, especially in the epistles. Unfortunately, I'm afraid the church has not heeded these warnings. So many churches are reflecting the world, rather than acting as salt and light. No wonder people are morally confused! We need to heed these warnings. It's not a kindness to tell people trapped in sin that their sins are okay, that they are making valid choices. The world needs Christ, more than ever. We need to do this gently; unfortunately some have gone delivering this message in a hateful way, which doesn't make Christ's teaching attractive. We need to beware of darkness.
