The Light of the World

Continuing on, in John 8:12: "Jesus said to the people, 'I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't be stumbling through the darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.' "

Another I Am statement. Light is the opposite of darkness. Sounds simple enough. But how many times do we go out into the dark thinking we don't need something to light our way. Up at the Advent Christian campground in Mechanic Falls, many an ankle has been turned by people trying to cut through the wooded areas without a flashlight...certainly the same applies to real life. We go out into the world without our light and are surprised when we stumble. We should never be without our Light, and we never are, but we sometimes act like we're trying to go through the dark on our own. We need to follow the Light.
