Who is this?

This was Christ's calling:

I, the Lord, have called you to demonstrate my righteousness. I will guard and support you, for I have given you to my people as the personal confirmation of my covenant with them. And you will be a light to guide all nations to me. You will open the eyes of the blind and free the captives from prison. You will release those who sin in dark dungeons. I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else. I will not share my praise with carved idols. (Isaiah 42:6-8)

It is amazing; this was written at least 400 years before Christ's birth. I think this prophecy was given to Isaiah so that when Christ did come, people would be able to see that Christ fulfilled the prophecies.  Too many people think that they can worship God and idols  at the same time--not true! And if we think that we don't have idols, we're kidding ourselves. In those days, idols were made of stone and wood; nowadays, our idols are celebrities, money, technology, etc.

How foolish are those who manufacture idols to be their gods. These highly valued objects are really worthless. They themselves are worthless that this is so, for their idols neither see nor know. No wonder those who worship them are put to shame. Who but a fool would make his own god-an idol that cannot help him one bit! (Isaiah 44:9-9-10)
And yet, we do it.  But we need to turn to Christ....we need to listen to Him when He says, "I am the one who creates the light and makes the darkness. I am the one who sends good times and bad times. I, the Lord, am the one who does these things. Open up, O heavens, and pour out your righteousness. Let the earth open wide so salvation and righteousness can sprout up together. I, the Lord, created them. (Isaiah 45:7-8)

He is almost pleading with us:
...I created you and have cared for you since before you were born. I will be your God throughout your lifetime--until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you. (Isaiah 46:3-4)

We would do well to remember who loves us, not our gods who only exist to serve the interests of corporations or people who really don't care, but the God who made us and knows everything about us.
