Today's blog post is a little different. I saw on Facebook that Paul McCartney is playing in Fenway Park again on July 9th for one night only. As tempted as I was to immediately pull out my credit card and order tickets, I didn't. (Last time ran me about $500, as I had to get train tickets and a hotel room for the night.) But what irked me was a comment urging Paul to "give it up, man. You're too old." (Or something along those lines). This is just ridiculous. For one thing, McCartney is in terrific shape for his age, he takes good care of himself, and to stop making millions of people happy because his birth certificate is dated 1942 would be silly and a crying shame. When I saw him, it was obvious that he was doing what he loved. You can't fake enthusiasm, at least not well.
God does not call people to do things based on their age. There's a million examples in the Bible of God's using older people. Abraham and Sarah became parents when he was 100 and she was 90. God called Moses to lead His people out of Egypt when Moses was 80. On the other end of the spectrum, we have Paul telling Timothy to not let people discourage him because of his youth. Jesus began his ministry when He was 30...and the small children He called to Him were used as examples of how to come to Him. We see through these examples that God is not limited by age. We shouldn't limit people by age either.
