However, now that I've thought about it, I should have seen this coming. Until Christ comes back, the world is going to get worse. In 1 John 2:18, he writes:
Dear children, the last hour is here. You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the end of the world has come.We have certainly seen many things this election that would point to end times. When any two people can get married, and not even have to be of the opposite sexes, that just opens the doors for legalizing polygamy and incest. After all, if it's discrimination to bar two men from getting married, how is not discrimination to not let a man live with 6 wives, or a woman live with 6 husbands? After all, they all have a loving, supportive relationship too. (Please note the sarcasm.) Or why shouldn't a father and daughter get married, or a mother and son get married? Things that used to be repulsive to us are now normalized, and anyone who speaks out against it is a hater and is guilty of hate speech. (Never mind that the First Amendment to the Constitution allows us free speech.)
As I was reading 1 Samuel 2, I took note of Hannah's prayer in verses 8b-10:
For all the earth is the Lord's, and He has set the world in order. He will protect His godly ones, but the wicked will perish in darkness. No one will succeed by strength alone. Those who fight against the Lord will be broken. He thunders against them from heaven; the Lord judges throughout the earth. He gives mighty strength to His king; He increases the might of His anointed one.In other words, while it may seem that evil has triumphed, and the world has plunged further into darkness and moral confusion, God is working. We can't see His plan right now, but it may be that we may win more people to Christ and away from the homosexual lifestyle by the legalization of gay marriage. He may use this to galvanize Christians to work harder at spreading the Word. We just don't know. And of course, Christ did say, "In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, for I have overcome the world."
