Discovered today while listening to Handel's Messiah that some things are not forgotten. I haven't sung that in over ten years, yet I still remember quite a bit of the alto part in "And the Glory of the Lord". It amazed me that one can learn a piece of music, not sing it for years, then listen to it once more and suddenly it's like it was yesterday. Learning Handel's Messiah is also a great way to learn Scripture, since it is taken directly from the book of Isaiah. Music is a great way to learn anything, but when you use it to learn Scripture, it tends to be taken to heart more. I find that hymns of praise that I've learned tend to pop up in my mind when I need them the most, or when God is trying to hammer home a point with me. I thank God for the methods He uses to keep me close to Him. I pray that I would always stay close to God.
