Today's joy of the day is the ability to laugh at oneself. My cell phone went off twice last night and I didn't recognize it because I thought it was part of the ballgame I was watching on ESPN. I thought to myself, "Gee, they're playing "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" a lot tonight out in Philadelphia. Finally Andy said, "Hon, I think your cell phone is going off." Oh! By the time I finally dug it out of my purse it had stopped. It was my coworker wanting to know where the newspaper clipboard was. She's the only one who has called me on that phone. Most everyone else knows the easiest way to reach me is the landline, because I just don't want to be tied to a phone. Although since I've gotten this one (which has a sliding keyboard) I've been texting my sister-in-law a lot.
But I had to laugh at myself, because that was pretty typical. The ability to laugh at myself is important because I do a lot of silly things and a sense of humor is important psychologically for getting along in life. I've noticed that after having a good laugh that my stress level is way down and problems don't seem so big afterwards. Plus if you take yourself too seriously nobody else will.
